File management

Your account provides flexible options for managing your files. The My Files page shows all of your files and jobs. You can search by file name, transcript content, keywords or meta data. You can also sort by clicking on a column header. You can rename a file or change its attributes by clicking on the file name itself. The View/Edit button takes you to a page where you can view the transcript alongside the media file, make real-time edits to the transcript, and add styling and chapter headings. The Download button lets you download different formats of closed caption and transcript files. The Archive function removes the file but does not delete it. You can view and restore archived files in the Archived Files tab.

Your transcript and closed caption files are stored in your account indefinitely, unless you ask us to delete them.

How to edit your transcripts and captions and add timestamps

video tutorialsWatch a video tutorial about viewing and editing your transcripts and captions after they have been processed.

Your account lets you view, edit, and make redactions to your transcript and caption files after they have been processed. You can also add timestamps, styling, and chapter headings.

From the My Files page click the View/Edit button beside the file that you want to view or edit. This opens an editing interface where each word of the transcript is linked to a specific time in the media. You can click any word to play the media from that exact point. To edit the text select Edit Text from the Click Actions dropdown. Then click on any word to edit it or highlight a section of text to edit style.

You can make other types of changes, like create a new paragraph or add a chapter heading, by choosing a different option from the Click Actions dropdown.

The Find & Replace function lets you quickly redact or replace a frequently occurring word.

Timestamps can be inserted at every paragraph or at a specific interval. For example, you can place them every five seconds or every paragraph.

While you make edits the software automatically accounts for the time synchronization. And when you click Save Changes, your edits instantly propagate to all output files, including closed caption files, interactive transcripts, and Clipmaker files. There is no need to reprocess your files.

Translation

Once your English content has been transcribed, it can be translated into a number of languages. All translation is time-synchronized. That means that you can download transcripts, closed captions, and multi-lingual subtitles, and use interactive applications the same way as with English.

Interactive Transcript

Installing an interactive transcript on your website allows users to navigate, search, and interact with your media. The interactive transcript is compatible with most video players and can be embedded on any website simply by inserting a snippet of code (we host the transcript content). The size and styling can easily be customized to conform to any site. See a demo and learn more about interactive transcripts.

Social Video Clipping

The social video clipping feature lets users quickly create and share a section of a video simply by highlighting the text in the interactive transcript. Clicking the share button generates a unique URL that can be emailed or shared through social media sites. When people click on that link it brings them back to your site and plays only the selected section of video. See a demo and learn more about social video clipping.
