3Play Media Launches with MIT150 Oral History Project
Updated: January 4, 2018
After four years of preparations, MIT finally launched the MIT150 website in commemoration of its 150th anniversary. One of the most anticipated parts of the site is a collection of more than 100 interviews of individuals who have made extraordinary contributions in their fields and to MIT. This digital oral history includes the likes of Noam Chomsky, Raymond Stata, and 8 Nobel laureates.
3Play Media is proud to have built the technology that powers the interactive transcript and video search capabilities. Instead of just watching a video, users can search within a transcript and click on any word to play the video from that exact point. Even more exciting is the ability to search across the entire collection of interviews. Results are returned on visual timelines indicating where a search term appears inside each matching video. Users can view a specific section of video or drill down to the transcript by clicking on a segment in the timeline.
