Introducing: MediaCore Integration for Closed Captions, Transcription & Subtitles

We’re pleased to announce a new roundtrip captioning integration with MediaCore. This integration offers a seamless captioning and transcription workflow for videos on the MediaCore platform.

What is MediaCore?

MediaCore offers lecture capture solutions to record classes and events. Those recordings can be archived for posterity and shared with participants.

Many universities use MediaCore for their video CMS, and according to web accessibility law, they need to add captions to make that video fully accessible to students.

The transcription and captioning workflow for MediaCore videos is easier than ever before with this new integration.

How to Set Up MediaCore Integration

You can activate your MediaCore integration by logging into your 3Play Media account and following these steps:

From the My Files page click Upload. Hover your cursor over Linked Account and select +New Linked Account. Select MediaCore from the list and enter your MediaCore login credentials.

Turn on Postback Data to have captions automatically sent to MediaCore and associated with their video once transcription is complete.

Turn on Tag Based Auto Upload to enable the ability to submit caption requests directly from MediaCore.

Hit Create Account. Your MediaCore and 3Play Media accounts should now be linked.

How to Request Captions for MediaCore within 3Play Media

If you prefer to manage your video captioning workflow in 3Play Media, you can do so using MediaCore as a Linked Account. Go to Upload Media > Linked Account > MediaCore.

How to Add Closed Captions and Subtitles to Video in MediaCore

Select the video(s) you want submitted for transcription, choose your turnaround time, and place your order. Closed captions will sync to your video in MediaCore as soon as your order is delivered.

How to Request Captions in MediaCore Using Tags

Our roundtrip integration offers the option of managing caption workflow directly in MediaCore using tags.

Make sure Tag Based Auto Upload and Postback Data are enabled in your Linked Account settings (see above).

Log into your MediaCore account and upload your video. In the Upload page, add one of the following tags:

  • 3play (for 4-business-days turnaround)
  • 3play_expedited (for 2-business-days turnaround)
  • 3play_rush (for 1-business-day turnaround)
  • 3play_same_day (for 8-hour turnaround)
  • 3play_extended (for discounted 10-business-days turnaround)

How to Add Closed Captions and Subtitles to Video in MediaCore using tags

Your video will automatically be submitted to 3Play with the corresponding turnaround time requested in your tag. Captions will post back to your video in MediaCore when they are finished.

If you’d like to request captions for a video you’ve already uploaded, simply edit its tags and hit Update.
