Introducing 3Play Media’s Live Automatic Captioning (Beta) Solution
We’re currently integrated with the following video platforms for Live Automatic Captioning:
How Does Live Automatic Captioning Work?
First, schedule a live event in your video player.
Next, schedule live captions for that corresponding live event in your 3Play account.
Here’s an example of our live auto captioning in a Zoom webinar:
When the event ends, you can access the transcript in 3Play for editing, upgrade to full transcription, or order more services on the transcript.
Why Use It?
WCAG 2.1 AA references that captions should be provided for all live audio content in synchronized media. It’s important to make your content accessible for people who are deaf or hard of hearing, especially during live events. 3Play’s Live Automatic Captioning solution allows your live events to be more accessible as well as improve viewer engagement and brand recall.
What Are Some Best Practices?
Our Live Automatic Captioning solution utilizes automated speech recognition (ASR) for generating captions, so it’s important to keep in mind some best practices before going live:
- Strong network connection
- Good audio quality
- Little to no background noise
- Single speaker
- Clear speech and pronunciation
Our recent report on the State of Automatic Speech Recognition provides more information on the latest trends with captioning accuracy using ASR technology.
How Can I Get Started?
Our Live Automatic Captioning (beta) solution is available for use by Pro and Enterprise customers. To get started, navigate to the Settings page in the account system and turn on the module for “Live Auto Captioning.”
Next, you’ll want to make sure you have a linked account with any of our live automatic captioning video platforms: YouTube, Zoom, Brightcove, or JW Player. Then, from the Live Auto Captioning module page in the account system, you should be able to schedule captions for corresponding live events within your preferred video platform.
Can I Access the Final “Live” Transcript?
Yes! Once your events end, you’ll have access to the final transcript with options for editing, upgrading to full transcription, or even ordering more services on the transcript.
Additional Services May Include:
- Upgrade to Full Transcription
- Vertical Caption Placement
- Caption Encoding
- Video Clip Captioning
- Audio Description
We Want Your Feedback
Our Live Automatic Captioning service is currently in beta. We are looking to get any or all of your feedback on usability, features, integrations, and more. We want to make sure we’re building a solution that fits your needs and expectations for live events.
To give you the chance to try it out, we’re offering the first 10 hours of Live Automatic Captioning FREE for the month of November. We invite you to test the beta solution and let us know what you think.
