2020 has come to an end, but before we wrap up the year, let’s take a look at the top 3Play Media webinars of 2020.
This year has been an unprecedented one for many as we quickly pivoted in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. It completely shifted the way in which we consume content online and the top webinars show how many of our viewers valued resources that promoted accessibility and inclusion in an online environment.
Without further ado, here are the top webinars of 2020.
1. Quick Start to Captioning 📝
At the number 1 spot on the top webinars of 2020 list, Quick Start to Captioning (QSC), gives viewers the basics on everything closed captions. This accessibility webinar, hosted by 3Play’s very own, Jaclyn Leduc, covers what captions are, how to create captions, why one should caption, and more.
Captions are time-synchronized text that can be read while watching a video and are usually noted with a CC icon. They’re essential for d/Deaf and hard of hearing viewers to understand the auditory information. However, captions are much more than an accessibility accommodation and in this webinar, you’ll learn all there is to know about them.

2. Zoom Captioning 101: How to Caption Your Live Streams and Recordings 🎥
After the COVID-19 pandemic, we all had to quickly shift gears. Many of the business meetings, presentations, and even social interactions could only be conducted virtually.
Zoom is a video communications platform that many people used to stay connected to friends, family, and colleagues. While Zoom is a useful tool for meetings and webinars, it’s important that it’s accessible to all users, including those with hearing loss.

Last, but certainly not least, our final webinar to make in the top 5 list is all about equity and inclusion, which was a big theme this year.
Luis Perez, Technical Assistance Specialist at the National AEM Center, and Sam Johnston, Director of Postsecondary and Workforce Development at CAST, discuss universal design learning, otherwise known as UDL. UDL is a framework that provides flexibility in the way information is presented, in the way students respond or demonstrate their knowledge and skills, and in the way students are engaged.
Viewers will learn all there is to know about UDL guidelines and how it is an ideal framework for designing instruction that responds to the uncertainty of teaching and learning in an online environment.
