Bringing Equity and Inclusion to Remote Learning with UDL

Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is a framework that provides flexibility in the way information is presented, in the way students respond or demonstrate their knowledge and skills, and in the way students are engaged.

The flexibility offered by UDL makes it an ideal framework for designing instruction that responds to the uncertainty of teaching and learning in the time of COVID-19.

In this session, you will learn about the UDL Guidelines, a blueprint for designing learning experiences that address the access, communication and self-regulation needs of all learners. A number of CAST resources will provide you with the tools to get started in implementing UDL in your remote learning courses, starting with the design of an inclusive and accessible syllabus.

This webinar will cover:

  • UDL Guidelines
  • How to address access in a virtual classroom
  • Communication and self-regulation needs of all learners
  • Building an accessible and inclusive syllabus
