Session Information

Designing an accessible online course—or updating a course that is not accessible—can be a daunting task.

In this presentation, you’ll learn from an experienced online instructor about common accessibility challenges faced by students with disabilities, as well as pedagogical choices that help avoid unintentionally creating barriers. In addition, this session will cover how to design engaging and accessible discussion prompts, course materials, assignments, and projects. Lastly, we’ll explore practical strategies for getting started, prioritizing tasks, setting priorities, and developing a realistic timeline.

With the right organization and approach, making a course more accessible can become a positive and manageable experience that results in an engaging course where all students can fully participate.
