About the Section 508 Refresh

Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 states that all information technology must be accessible to people with disabilities, including employees and the public.

The Section 508 Standards were originally published in 2000, but with the rapid advancement of technology, in 2017 the U.S. Access Board issued an update to the standards to “ensure consistency in accessibility across the spectrum of information and communication technologies (ICT) covered.”
