Dubbing

Dubbing entails creating a translated version of a video for distribution to non-native speakers. New audio segments are synced with the existing footage, keeping the dubbed version as close as possible to the original.

UN-Style

UN-style dubbing means that the target language audio is recorded over the original audio track, which can be heard in the background, using a single voice. The goal is to enable the audience to enjoy both the translation in their native language, as well as the original intonation, as played by the original cast.

Lip-sync

Lip-sync dubbing refers to substituting the voice of the actors shown on the screen with the voice of different performers. Professional actors record replicas in the studio while watching the video feed on screen and listening to the original soundtrack. The new audio segments are then synced with the existing footage, keeping the dubbed version as close as possible to the original version.

Subtitling

Subtitles are intended for hearing viewers who do not understand the language. They communicate dialogue, but not non-speech elements like sound effects in an audio track. Video subtitling can be an instrumental tool in reaching untapped global markets and making your video content accessible to other countries in an array of languages.

SDH

Subtitles for the d/Deaf or hard of hearing (SDH) are sometimes used in place of closed captions, often in OTT or streaming. SDH include the same information as closed captions (sound effects, music, identifiers) but has longer line limits, timing differences, and visual appearance can vary.

Who is this for? SDH subtitles are best if you need translation for accessibility accommodations. This translation is also best for a general corporate (legal, finance, tech, marketing) and educational content.

non-SDH

Non-subtitles for the d/Deaf and hard of hearing are what you typically think of when it comes to localized subtitles. They do not include sound effects, identifiers, or music. Sometimes, however, non-SDH can include translations of on-screen text as time allows.

Who is this for? Non-SDH subtitles are intended for a hearing audience in another language. They are the standard subtitle type for the distribution of content internationally. Non-SDH subtitles are also best for media and entertainment content.

Translation

After your video or audio files have been captioned (or transcripts aligned), we make it easy to translate them into many different languages. Our video translation services are seamlessly integrated with our captioning and transcription services.
