Welcome to 3Play Media’s Allied Podcast, a show on all things accessibility. This month’s episode features Jacquie Sawyer and Liz Vacchiano and is about how a puppy becomes a guide dog.

Jacquelyn Sawyer, an expert in influencer marketing strategy, joined The Dogist as The Director of Partnerships in the Spring of 2020. With over five years of agency experience in the world of influencer marketing, Jacquie brings unrivaled expertise and skill to the table. A renowned marketer, she has run campaigns for Google, Sephora, Converse, and many others. In addition to her marketing prowess, she also brings a slew of experience in the dog world to the team. A vet tech in college, and a dog lover to her core, Jacquie now resides in New Jersey with her husband, Steve, their dog Artie, and their Guiding Eyes for the Blind puppy in training, Biscuit. Jacquie graduated from Farleigh Dickinson University in 2014 with a B.A. in Marketing and Communications and a minor in photography.

Liz Vacchiano graduated from the University of Delaware in 2015 with a B.S. in Animal and Food Science and an Equine minor. While in college, Liz raised two puppies for The Seeing Eye who both became guides. She also interned at the Penn Vet Working Dog Center, which cemented her desire to work with working dogs. After college, she was a kennel technician at The Seeing Eye before moving to California and then Long Island to work as an Assistant Dog Instructor at Canine Companions. She professionally trained strings of dogs and matched and trained students at Canine Companions, as well as raised two puppies for them (one is a service dog, and the other is her pet now). Liz has been working with Guiding Eyes professionally for two years now and just started raising her third puppy, a female German Shepherd named Kathleen. She is also fostering a Guiding Eyes brood. In her free time, she works at her family’s 300-acre farm in NJ and is restarting an off-the-track Thoroughbred.
