3Play Media and Gengo Partner to Streamline Video Translation and Transcription
Two leading technology companies team up to simplify the translation of online video to benefit internet media companies, enterprise, and government agencies aiming to expand their global reach.
Cambridge, MA, March 11, 2013 — 3Play Media today announced a partnership with Gengo to simplify video and audio translation to make it more cost-effective and scalable. After files are uploaded to 3Play Media for transcription processing, clients can elect to translate their content into 31 languages with a click of a button.
Gengo’s translation services are directly integrated with all of 3Play Media’s capabilities, allowing users to download transcripts and multilingual subtitles in numerous formats. Translations can also be published through searchable, interactive transcripts, increasing video engagement. After files are translated, 3Play Media’s self-service translation editor provides a convenient interface to make changes, if necessary. Although turnaround varies, 91% of translations are completed within 24 hours.
“Traditionally video translation is expensive and requires high personal interaction and project management. Our goal was to streamline the workflow and make the process as scalable and cost-effective as our captioning and transcription services,” said Chris Antunes, VP of Operations at 3Play Media.
Through Gengo, 3Play Media offers three translation quality levels, starting with a price-perfect “Standard translation”, good enough to expand into new markets, “Pro translation” designed for formal business use, and “Ultra translation” for refined accuracy.
Gengo’s services are provided by 7,500+ pre-screened translators trained to accurately capture the cultural and linguistic nuances of the source language. With over 53 language pairs Gengo has helped companies globalize and expand to new markets.
The translation offering is further leveraged by 3Play Media’s integrations with a multitude of video players, platforms, and lecture capture systems. For example, 3Play Media users can import videos directly from YouTube to create transcripts, captions, and translated subtitles.
“We love working with partners like 3Play Media, because they’re making it dramatically easier for video content owners to go global. Our team is impressed at the depth and simplicity of the integration they’ve created, it’s very cool” said Gengo CEO Robert Laing.
