Ben Wright is an Account Executive at 3Play Media. Ben lost his hearing in one ear suddenly in September 2018 from a cold.

“Lucky that it’s this kind of day and age where accessibility is such a prevalent part of our everyday lives. There are so many things around that are geared towards accessibility that we can take for granted. ”

“Basically, my role is to get new accounts set up, make sure people understand how they’re using the system, making sure that they’re getting the best deal possible in terms of discounted pricing with us for volume. And yeah, just all about kind of helping to grow and spread the accessibility gospel as much as I can.”

As a new member of the HoH community, it definitely makes me feel confident knowing that no matter what might happen to my other ear I won’t get left behind.

Working at 3Play Media with hearing loss has been an interesting experience. I started working for 3Play five and a half years ago. I lost my hearing in my left ear about a year ago. During my time here I’ve had the opportunity to speak with a variety of people about their accessibility needs and be an advocate for video accessibility.

Then, and more so now, it always makes me happy to speak with somebody using a form of assistive/accessible technology. I’ve had calls with many deaf and hard of hearing people who use an interpreter to speak and understand what I am saying. It’s great that there are people who have devoted their lives to providing an accessibility service and as a new member of the HoH community, it definitely makes me feel confident knowing that no matter what might happen to my other ear I won’t get left behind.
